STREET DANCE

Street dancing is a broad umbrella term that describes a range of funk and hip-hop dance styles. Street dance has become increasingly popular in recent years and is the fastest growing dance form around.

Popular forms of street dance include break-dance, popping, locking and house dance, including choreographed routines. Improvisation lies at the core of street dancing, with participants allowing rhythmic music to shape the movement of their bodies.

Street dancing offers a great workout for the body, improving stamina and flexibility. It also develops concentration and boosts self-confidence.

TAP DANCE

Tap dance is a form of dance characterised by using the sounds of tap shoes (shoes fitted with small metal plates) rhythmically striking the floor as a form of percussion.  Tap dancing can be customised to anyone of any age and fitness levels. Bounce Dance academy focuses on both Broadway tap and Rhythm tap.

Benefits of tap dance include increasing cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, strength, and coordination. Tap dance builds strength in the legs and feet in addition to increasing flexibility in the hips, knees and ankles. Tap also enhances student’s cognitive abilities.

We help our students focus on music awareness whilst incorporating tap steps and combinations, thus developing a great sense of rhythm and timing.
